Education Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Accounting (or Business Administration with an Accounting Minor). CPA Desired.

REPORTS TO:

General Manager

EXPERIENCE:

2 years of experience in a management role of an accounting department; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2 or more year’s experience with computerized accounting systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for managing and coordinating the accounting function of the company, including reporting of all financial and tax-related statements, accounts receivable, credit & collections, computer operation, accounts payable, and payroll processing.

  Supervises accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  Prepares monthly financial statements and commentaries.
  Executes cash disbursements for payment of company expenditures in accordance with disbursement policies.
  Handles all accounting aspects of the 401(k) plan.
  Prepares sales representative commissions on a monthly basis.
  Responsible for all reports required by governmental regulatory agencies, such as U.S. Department of Commerce.
  Prepares credit memo analysis and make recommendations for needed improvement.
  Analyzes and reconcile inventory on a yearly basis.
  Year-end financial reporting, including financial statements, audits, and inventory. Work with auditing firm as needed.
  Prepares quarterly and annual sales use tax returns for appropriate companies.
  Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Issues written and oral instructions. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  Plans, directs and coordinates the work plan for computer system related projects to ensure that goals on objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame.
  Prepares project status reports for Management.

Supervises Accounting staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Personal Computer Skills: advanced skills with spreadsheets (Excel) and familiarity with work processing software (MS Word).
